How to install and maintence the VT501 heat recovery ventilator?

1. Installation of CHICHVAC VT501

1.1 Prepare the Wall Opening
Drill or cut a round hole through the wall, with a diameter of 160–180 mm.

1.2 Assemble the Ducts
Connect the inner duct and outer duct to match the wall thickness.
If the wall is thinner, shorten the duct as needed.
Apply waterproof sealing glue to the inner side of the rubber ring (see image below).

1.3 Install the Duct Through the Wall
Insert the assembled duct from indoors through the wall opening and gently pull it back so the inner rubber ring fits tightly against the exterior wall.
Fill the gap between the wall and duct with foam glue.
For the indoor side, use waterproof sealing glue near the wall surface to prevent rainwater intrusion.
Ensure the inner duct is flush and parallel with the indoor wall surface.

1.4 Mark and Drill Mounting Holes
Place the location sticker on the wall and align it so the circle on the sticker is concentric with the duct.
Mark the four drilling points, remove the sticker, and drill 4×6 mm holes.
Insert the rubber plugs (included in the accessory pack).

1.5 Install Filters and Core
Insert the components into the telescopic air duct in this order:

First filter
Ceramic core (heat exchanger)
Second filter
Airflow rectifier

⚠️ Caution
Do not install the ventilator behind blinds, curtains, or drapes where the air duct could be obstructed.
Obstruction may cause dust accumulation or reduced airflow efficiency.
Ensure that airflow around the ventilator is unobstructed for optimal performance.

2. Maintenance of the CHICHVAC VT501

Always disconnect the power before performing any maintenance.
Regular care ensures long service life and efficient operation.

Ventilator maintenance includes periodic surface cleaning, filter replacement, and impeller cleaning.

2.1 Fan Maintenance
Pull the ventilator gently to remove it from the mounting plate.

Clean the impeller blades using a soft brush, cloth, or vacuum cleaner.
Do not use water, abrasive detergents, solvents, or sharp tools.
Clean the blades once per year or as needed.

2.2 Regenerator and Filter Maintenance (Four Times a Year)

Remove the airflow rectifier.
Take out the front filter before the regenerator.
Carefully pull the exchanger core (ceramic regenerator) from the duct—avoid applying excessive force to prevent damage.
Remove the rear filter.

Filter Replacement: Replace the filters whenever they appear dirty, at least four times per year.
Spare filters are available from your CHICHVAC distributor or seller.

Regenerator Cleaning: Even with regular filter changes, dust can accumulate inside the heat exchanger.
Use a vacuum cleaner to remove debris once a year to maintain high heat‑exchange efficiency.
